Prayers to the Roman Gods: Vulcan

Another poem! I don't know that Vulcan was ever described as the god of machinery, per se, but honestly it just seems to fit perfectly with his other roles, doesn't it?

Oh Vulcan, Lord Vulcan,
Lord of forge and flame,
Divine workman,
My work is done in your name.
I ask for skill with metal and crafts,
To beat steel into things of use
And gold into things of beauty.
To you I pledge my metalworks,
To you, oh lord of crafts.

O Vulcanus, Vulcanus Dominus,
Dominus flammae caminique,
Faber divinus,
Supplico.
De machinis et metellis artem rogo;
Chalybem ad instrumentos cudam
Et instrumentos ad usus bonos dirigam.
Ad te fabricas dedico,
Ad te, o dominus artifici.
